Almond Chocolate Balls with Fleur de Sel

1 cup almond butter
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 oz dark chocolate, chopped Fleur de sel

1/ In a bowl, mix almond butter, sugar, and vanilla. Roll into 20 equal-size balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with waxed or parchment paper and freeze until firm, about 1 hour.

2/ Stir chocolate in metal or glass bowl over a saucepan of simmering water until smooth. (Or microwave on medium for 1 minute, stir, then continue microwaving, stirring every 20 seconds, until completely melted.)

3/ Roll the almond balls in melted chocolate, garnishing with fleur de sel as you go. Refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 30 minutes.

Makes 20. Per serving (one ball): 120 cal, 9 g fat (2 g sat), 9 g carbs, 60 mg sodium, 1 g fiber, 2 g protein

Pork Tenderloin with Cocoa-Nib Crust

2 Tbsp cocoa nibs*
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp Kosher salt or sea salt
1 tsp dried thyme
1 1/2 lbs pork tenderloin
1 Tbsp vegetable oil

1/ Preheat oven to 450°F. In a spice or coffee grinder, or with a mortar and pestle, grind nibs until broken into smaller bits. Mix with remaining ingredients except pork and oil.

2/ Trim off the pork’s silvery skin, then rinse and pat dry with a paper towel. Lightly coat all sides with vegetable oil. Rub with a generous amount of the cocoa spice rub.

3/ In an ovenproof skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add pork and sear until golden brown on all sides, about 8 minutes. Transfer skillet to oven and roast pork until a thermometer inserted into thickest part of meat registers 145°F, about 15 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving with mango salsa (optional).

Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 230 cal, 4.5 g fat (1.5 g sat), 9 g carbs, 330 mg sodium, 1 g fiber, 36 g protein

Poached Chicken with Chocolate Mole

4 dried ancho or other Mexican chili peppers
2 tsp vegetable oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 ripe plantain (or an unripened banana), sliced
1 can tomatillos, about 8 to 10, drained and quartered
1/4 cup raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
2 whole cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp coriander
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 cup almonds or walnuts
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
1 1/2 oz dark chocolate or unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (6 oz each)
3 sprigs fresh thyme

1/ To make mole sauce: Soak ancho chilies in warm water for 30 minutes. In a skillet, heat 2 teaspoons oil over medium heat. Cook onion until soft, about 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in garlic, plantain, tomatillos, raisins, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, coriander, and oregano. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

2/ Take chilies out of the bowl, reserving 1 1/2 cups of the water, and remove seeds and stems. Place in a food processor or blender along with reserved water, tomatillo mixture, almonds, and sesame seeds. Blend until smooth. Return to skillet, stir in chocolate, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Heat until chocolate is completely melted.

3/ To poach chicken, place in a pot large enough that breasts fit in one layer. Add enough water to cover chicken by an inch. Add thyme sprigs and salt to taste. Bring water to just under a simmer (no bubbles on surface), reduce heat to medium-low, partially cover, and cook for about 15 minutes, or until meat registers 160°F. Serve chicken with mole sauce and cilantro, if desired.

Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 514 cal, 18 g fat (4 g sat), 48 g carbs, 223 mg sodium, 10 g fiber, 44 g protein

Chocolate Fruit Bark

12 oz dark chocolate or bittersweet baking chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped
1/2 cup unsalted roasted pistachios, chopped
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger powder
1/8 tsp cayenne or chili powder (optional)
2 tsp cocoa nibs

1/ Line a rimmed baking sheet with waxed paper or lightly greased aluminum foil. Stir chocolate in a metal or glass bowl over a saucepan of simmering water until smooth. (Or microwave on medium for 1 minute, stir, then continue microwaving, stirring every 20 seconds, until completely melted.)

2/ Stir in half the dried fruit and pistachios plus all the spices. Spread chocolate mixture onto the baking sheet. Sprinkle with cocoa nibs and remaining dried fruit and pistachios, and press gently to adhere. Chill in the refrigerator until firm, about 30 minutes. Break into pieces.

Makes 10 servings. Per serving: 260 cal, 14 g fat (7 g sat), 31 g carbs, 10 mg sodium, 4 g fiber, 4 g protein

Chocolate Coffee Cake with Cashew Ganache

Ganache
1/2 cup unsalted raw cashews
4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
2 Tbsp pure maple syrup

Cake
2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp instant espresso powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup canola or grapeseed oil
1 cup strongly brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract

1/ Place cashews in a bowl, cover with water, and soak for 2 hours.

2/ Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a Bundt pan or an 8-inch square pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, lightly beat egg. Mix in sugar, oil, coffee, and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and mix until no dry flour remains. Pour batter into pan and bake for 22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before unmolding.

3/ While the cake is baking, put cashews in a blender and add just enough water to cover them. Process until smooth. In a small saucepan, combine cashew cream, chocolate, and maple syrup. Cook over low heat until chocolate is completely melted, stirring often. Serve cake topped with cashew ganache and fresh raspberries, if desired.

Makes 10 servings. Per serving: 360 cal, 19 g fat (4 g sat), 42 g carbs, 190 mg sodium, 4 g fiber, 5 g protein

Hot Chocolate Three Ways

Base
1 1/2 cups low-fat milk
1 1/2 oz dark chocolate, thinly shaved or grated (about ? cup)

Aztec
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/16 tsp cayenne or chili powder

Chai
1/8 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cardamom
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp cinnamon

Peppermint
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
2 tsp sugar

In a small saucepan, bring milk to a slight simmer over medium heat. Remove milk from heat and stir in chocolate, along with one of the flavor combos, for 1 minute.

Each makes 2 servings. Per serving (for base hot chocolate; amounts will vary slightly for other flavors): 190 cal, 9 g fat (5 g sat), 22 g carbs, 85 mg sodium, 2 g fiber, 7 g protein

At first glance, the rope may seem like a thicker version of your childhood jump rope, but—trust me—there is nothing childish about this workout tool. I had the opportunity to try the rope during a bootcamp class at PhysciallyFit studios in Shelton, CT, and that rope, let me tell you…it makes you work hard.Jim Karas—celebrity trainer, lifestyle expert, and author of the new book, The Petite Advantage Diet: Achieve That Long, Lean Look. The Specialized Plan for Women 5’4″ and Under, which hits stores on December 27, 2011—helps elaborate some of the benefits of this workout.

Who is this workout tool geared towards?
“Everyone from [exercise] beginners to professional athletes,” Karas says. “That’s one of the great things about this product—you can engage it to your own fitness level.” Since I had the pleasure of experiencing the rope for the first time in the middle of a bootcamp class (sense my sarcasm?), I definitely had to take it easy. On a positive note…because the intensity level can easily be escalated, should you only have 10-15 minutes to exercise, “Hit those ropes, and you get the job done,” Karas says.

Which exercises or pieces of equipment are the ropes comparable to?
Nothing! “With the ropes, your constantly unstable and moving your body on many different planes,” says Karas. You’re even working your mind because it takes a lot of brainpower to get the ropes to do what you want.

Which body part does the rope target?
You guessed it…all of them. For me, I definitely felt it in my arms. When you’re using the ropes, “If you fight the urge to round your shoulders forward, not only will you get great arms and shoulders, you’ll enhance posture, and nothing makes us look leaner and longer than great posture,” Karas says. If you’re looking to abuse your legs (in a good way, of course), keep a squat stance and find your happy place.

How many calories can someone burn while using the ropes?
“A lot,” Karas says. “Intensity equals post calorie burn,” he explains. “The more intense your exercise is, the more EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) you’ll have.” EPOC is that amazing thing that happens after a kick-butt workout that keeps burning calories long after you’ve caught your breath.

Is this a solo exercise?
It can be—or you can have a partner. Simply have your workout buddy hold the other side of the rope while you go to town. I held it while my husband flipped, swiveled and tossed the ropes into oblivion. Let’s just say my “rest” time was a roller coaster ride. Check out this video from GoFit.net of the rope in action, and you’ll see what I mean…

Overall, I found this workout tool to be a rewarding challenge. I would definitely recommend giving it a whirl. Many gyms have acquired the rope, so trying this piece of equipment may be easier than you think!

Child’s Pose

Stretches hips, quads, back

1. Kneel on the floor with big toes touching and knees about hip-width apart. Sit on your heels.

2. Lay your torso between the thighs and bring your forehead to the mat. Extend arms straight in front of you, palms on the floor. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Stay here for at least one minute.

Why it is good for you
This go-to rest pose opens hips and relieves low back tightness.

Downward Facing Dog

Stretches spine, hamstrings, glutes, calves; strengthens deltoids, triceps

1. Start on all fours with your feet and knees hip-width apart. Position hands about shoulder-width apart and spread your fingers wide.

2. Pressing firmly through your hands, lift knees off the floor and straighten your legs. (If you have tight hamstrings, a gentle bend in the knees is fine).

3. Walk your hands forward a few inches and walk your feet back a few inches to lengthen the pose. Squeeze thighs as you press them toward the back wall. Press your heels back and down toward the floor (though they might not reach the mat).

4. Relax the head and neck and let your shoulder blades slide down your back toward your feet. Breathe deeply. Hold for at least one minute.

Why it is good for you
Down-Dog is a top-notch upper body-strengthener. And as an inversion (meaning your hips are higher than your heart), it increases circulation.

Warrior II

Stretches hips, inner thighs, chest; strengthens quadriceps, abdomen, shoulders

1. From standing, step your feet about 4 feet apart. Turn your right foot so the toes point toward the front of your mat. Turn your left foot in 30 degrees.

2. Raise your arms to shoulder height, parallel with the floor, palms face down. Bend your right knee so your right shin and thigh form a 90-degree angle.

3. Gently tuck your tailbone down as you draw your abdomen in. Hold for 5 deep breaths in and out through the nose. Straighten the right leg and repeat on the opposite side.

Why it is good for you
This powerful pose will grant you long, lean, toned arms and legs as well as firmer core.

Plank Pose

Strengthens arms, back, shoulders, core, quadriceps

1. From Downward-Facing Dog, press into the palms and bring the chest forward so that your shoulders are directly over your wrists and you are in the top of a push-up position.

2. Press your heels toward the wall behind you and extend the crown of your head forward to form a straight line from the top of your head to your heels. Hold for at least 1 minute.

Why it is good for you
Plank is a simple but challenging way to build upper body strength – it works all of the major muscles in your arms, back, and core and requires only your bodyweight.

Fierce Pose

Stretches spine; strengthens quadriceps, ankles, back

1. Stepping your feet hip-width apart, spread through your toes to create a stable base. As you raise arms to the sky, palms facing each another, bend your knees and sit your buttocks back as though you were sitting into a chair.

2. Draw your abdomen in to eliminate any curving in the lower back. Put all your weight into your heels and be sure your knees do not extend past your toes. Hold for 5 deep breaths in and out through the nose. Rest for one minute. Repeat.

Why it is good for you
This pose is injury insurance, strengthening quadriceps, which provides stronger support around your knees, making them less prone to injury. Fierce pose also improves posture.

Our Review: This Dove Body Wash is really lovely. Its rich, thick and creamy and really hydrates the skin nicely. The smell is classic Dove, soft and soapy and clean with a hint of floral undertones. For the price this body wash is definitely worth it and a little goes a long way, but it foams very nicely and doesn’t really leave any residuals, which I like. It does leave a powdery smell on your skin, but nothing offensive or even that noticeable. I would say that if your skin needs some moisture from the super-dry winter air look no further for a very inexpensive solution!

People with sensitive personalities are easily upset—and so are people with sensitive skin. Hey, patches of tiny red bumps or an itchy rash can make a girl cranky. The cause of an irritable complexion: “Women with sensitive skin have hyperactive immune systems that read certain products or weather conditions as enemies and fight them off as foreign objects,” says Marianna Blyumin- Karasik, M.D., a dermatologist in Miami. “This reaction often leads to skin redness, itching, stinging, burning, and peeling.”

Blyumin-Karasik says that 30 percent of the women treated in her practice have sensitive skin. However, many more experience symptoms at some point in their lives due to hormonal fluctuations or because they’ve slathered on products that contain harsh ingredients. “Women are using more anti-aging products than ever before, and the potent exfoliants in them can cause irritation,” says Francesca Fusco, M.D., an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. “So more women are experiencing the symptoms of sensitivity.” Keep your skin happy by staying away from the following saboteurs.

11 Best Foods For Sensitive Skin

Chemicals in Soaps and Cleansers

They may leave you feeling squeaky clean, but cleansing agents known as surfactants play a dirty trick on sensitive skin. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a harsh emulsifier that is found in body washes, facial cleansers, and soap; it rids the skin of dirt and oil while breaking down precious lipids, the glue that binds skin cells together, keeping them resistant to dryness and damage.

Some soaps also contain drying antibacterial agents such as tetrasodium EDTA and triclosan. Because sensitive skin is almost always dry, soaping up with moisture-sucking products can lead to itching and peeling, says Blyumin-Karasik. Instead, wash with soaps specifically formulated for sensitive or dry skin; these products contain the relatively mild sodium laureth sulfate. Try Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser ($9, at drugstores). Read labels to make sure you’re getting laureth and not the more common (and more irritating) lauryl.

Chemicals in Makeup

Ultramarine blue, a pigment commonly found in eye shadow, can be a bit of a bully to sensitive skin. If it’s giving you the blues, find relief by using neutral eye shadow shades like beige or brown, which expose skin to fewer irritating chemical pigments. Also, “mica, a light-reflecting particle with chemical properties, is found in mineral makeup and bronzing powder, and it can be a big itch inducer,” says Zoe Draelos, M.D., a consulting professor of dermatology at Duke University School of Medicine.

Another culprit is bismuth oxychloride, a sheen enhancer that’s known to cause stinging. “Unfortunately, these ingredients are found in products we aggressively rub in with a brush, which exacerbates the irritation by pushing the product deep into the pores,” she says. Choosing liquid blushes, bronzers, and foundations (which aren’t brushed on) will keep your skin placated. Try Philosophy Supernatural Superbeautiful Makeup SPF 20, ($30, at Sephora); it’s free of bad guys like fragrance, mica, and talc.

Hey, I’m Christine Foreman from Jacksonville, Florida. I’m a final year college student doing Graphic Design. And you’re reading my uncensored review of what I really thought about Linda Allen’s Yeast Infection No More system.

You may be wondering why I’m writing this review. My mom has had severe Yeast Infection for years. She suffered from muscle pain, heartburn, and fatigue. So I made the decision to do something about her problems I did a lot of research.

Then I found Linda Allen’s Yeast Infection No More. I heard a lot of good things about her system but there weren’t many reviews available on the web. So I thought I’d write one to help other people have the same yeast infection problems like my mom.

Ran by a medical researcher, health consultant, certified nutritionist and freelance writer for nearly 13 years, the owner of this website is also the author and co-author of several best selling alternative health books and dozens of articles.

Holistic health is the owners main area of expertise, so it’s no guessing what kind of solution they are going to be offering.

But with numerous success stories and a holistic, natural and relatively inexpensive approach to a supposedly simple cure…I felt it was worth my own review.

What Does It Do?

The “Yeast Infection No More System” is a 150 page downloadable e-book, containing only the most effective natural yeast infection cure methods, combined with unique techniques and a step-by step holistic Yeast Infection system developed over 7 years of Yeast Infection research.

The program contains information designed to eliminate your Yeast Infection permanently without creams and without using drugs and without any side effects.

First Impressions

Once the guide was downloaded, it appeared that there was loads of material both inside the main guide and all of the bonuses. Although the bonus material seemed a little less professional in presentation and overall content quality, the main guide was well written, with clear information.

Of course, what really matters is whether the info works and is valuable in curing yeast infections, which is what we’re going to look at now…

Does It Work?

Alongside lots of case studies, in my tests it was clear that the methods are very valid. Although still taking time to clear up some of the symptoms, there have been visible improvements even after just one day of usage.

We also asked different members of the online community for their comments and although there were mixed opinions, the results reported from the larger majority of people who have actually given this guide a fair shot are impressive to say the least.

For specific testimonials and case studies, please visit THIS LINK

Who Is It Right For?

At first glance, I believed that yeast infections were something only women suffered from. However, it turns out that both men and women are afflicted by various forms of yeast infection around different parts of the body.

The more common yeast infection is associated with the sexual organs, but by no means the only form. Therefore, both men and women can use the information provided to cure their specific yeast infection problems. That is, both men and women who have tried everything and are sick and are tired of paying for medication that either doesn’t work or makes the problem worse.

Bad Points

Although I discovered that the cures to be very safe and non evasive, the only faults I could pick were that the book seemed a little to long which may overwhelm a sufferer looking for cure quickly. The only other possible set back was the price. The price of the book was originally at $49.97 and as far as books go, that does seem a little pricey. I was annoyed too, because I since found out that you can get the entire system for $39.97 as part of a promotions they are doing, when I last checked!

But although this could be put down as a bad point, the fact is that you’re paying for a cure, not just well researched background information like you might find at a bookstore. Finally, if you’re not willing to change your bad eating habits and poor diet then think twice about buying this eBook. It’s going to take some discipline and work on your part to implement her “Candida Free Diet”.

Although the herbal mixes and topical relief remedies are good to know about for relief of things like thrush, bare in mind that this isn’t a case of applying a cream and waking up completely cured – in other words, you still need to commit to the guide for a few days minimum.

Good Points

The good points of this system are in its’ results. The biggest benefits of which I have listed below…

-Cure Yeast Infection permanently, unlike medication

95% of the people who use conventional Yeast Infection treatments get rid of their Yeast Infection temporarily.

In fact, sometimes their Yeast Infection ends up worse than when they started. With the Yeast Infection No More guide she shows you how to eliminate it for good.

That’s not only going to provide physical relief, but will save you lots of money on would be drugs and medications

-Cure Yeast Infection holistically

Since curing yeast infection may never be achieved by tackling one of the many factors responsible for yeast infection, then trying to cure your yeast infection with a one-dimensional treatment like antibiotics, pills, creams or even detox diets will likely fail over and over again.

And because there’s no drugs or medications, it’s a cheaper and safer way to recover to full health once again.

-Free private counselling

Some guides online and offline leave you to work out your problems alone. What I liked about Yeast Infection No More is that they offer FREE professional private email counselling and support from a certified nutritionist.

That was a particularly strong selling point for both myself and the people we asked about this product.

-Practical advice

Many treatments and advice appear to be hard going, or very demanding (require you to take dozens of precious herbs, supplements and vitamins daily or make you spend your hard-earned money on additional boring information that do nothing).

What I liked about the Yeast Infection No More guide was that although it is comprehensive, it is also highly practical and cheap and you can easily implement the advice into your daily life.

Click Here to Visit the Yeast Infection No More System

The conclusion

The author of Yeast Infection No More, Linda Allen, being a former victim of yeast infection, has done full and detailed research and presents her book to completely cure yeast infection.

What is impressive was the amount of information in the 151 pages of Yeast Infection No More. Linda Allen discusses about yeast infections and the effective home remedies in a thorough and detailed manner. One would really understand how yeast infections would affect their overall health.

The most important about Yeast Infection No More is that you can simply remove the worst yeast infection symptoms from your body as fast as 12 hours. The book provides a concise step-by-step process for anyone to follow.

So, if you’d like to:

Eradicate excessive Candida yeast overgrowth in the digestive tract

Be completely free from vaginal, male or oral yeast infections

Eliminate recurring thrush, athlete’s foot, and all types of skin yeast infections

Enhance digestive and intestinal health

Regain lost energy caused by Candida yeast overgrowth

End food allergies and digestive disorders like bloating, acid reflux and LGS

Fight depression, mood swings and anxiety related to yeast overgrowth

Be completely free from migraines, blurred vision and headaches

Eliminate muscle aches, joint pain and fatigue

Feel lighter, healthier and more energetic.

Experience enhanced elimination, thicker hair and healthier skin and nails

Have increased mental clarity, enthusiasm and vitality…

…then this is definitely a guide worth checking out.

After all, this step-by-step process can relieve you of any short term symptoms and to cure Yeast Infection for good, Linda Allen describes in the book exactly how you can remove Yeast Infection in the long term too.

For an easy, practical and effective read on curing yeast infection for both men and women, then Yeast Infection No More is the guide I’d recommend to friends and family over anything else I’ve tried to this day.

I sincerely hope that those of you who read this Yeast Infection No More review will get some relief for your yeast infection problems.
